G2A DESKTOP APP
G2A is the world's largest video game key marketplace, with millions of active users and a catalog of over 75,000 digital products. This desktop app redesign sought to modernize the shopping experience to compete visually with Steam, Epic Games, and GOG. The goal was to transform a packaged web interface into a native experience that leveraged the desktop format: persistent navigation, quick previews, and efficient library management.
Design — Gaming
> g2a@mission-control:~$ diagnostics --run ERROR: G2A's web interface had not received a significant visual update in 3 years. Users described it as "a 2018 website stuffed inside a desktop window." WARN: Information density — over 30 visible elements per screen — hindered deal discovery and increased purchase decision time. CRITICAL: The shopping experience did not leverage the desktop format. Sidebar functions, keyboard shortcuts, and hover previews were completely absent.
The redesign adopts a desktop-first approach with a persistent navigation sidebar that organizes sections into collapsible categories, reducing the clicks needed to reach any product to a maximum of 2. Game cards include hover previews with screenshots, price, discount, and rating without opening the product page. Smart search filters results in real time by platform, price range, and genre, while the premium dark theme with gaming accents maintains coherence with the visual ecosystem that players expect.
